2 Days Uganda Gorilla Tour

Our 2 Days Uganda Gorilla Tour starts from either Rwanda or Uganda. It is intended for travelers who wish to track the gorillas in Uganda because of the lower costs. Uganda is a cheaper destination for gorilla trekking because a gorilla permit cost $700. Some travelers would rather cross from Rwanda into Uganda to track the gorillas if they cannot afford the $1500 charged for Rwanda gorilla permits. This tour is more practical when a traveler is already in Kigali (Rwanda), Kisoro or Kabale in Uganda. This 2 days gorilla safari will take place in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park of Uganda. Bwindi is in a strategic location and because of this can be accessed from both Rwanda and Uganda. The driving time from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable forests is only 4 hours. More about Bwindi. Bwindi impenetrable national park is the most popular mountain gorilla tracking destination. It is located in the southwestern part of Uganda, a few miles away from the border between Uganda and Rwanda. Bwindi is a UNESCO world heritage because of its incredible biodiversity and the fact that it has the largest population of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Bwindi is not all about gorillas. It is home to about 120 mammals, chimpanzees, smaller primates and over 200 species of birds. Among them birds include those endemic to the Albertine rift such at the short tailed warbler and blue headed sunbird. While tracking gorillas, expect to also encounter forest elephants, antelopes, bush pigs, clawless otters, chimpanzees, L’hoest monkeys and colobus monkeys.

Although Bwindi is home to several other wildlife species, the key attraction are the 459 mountain gorillas found in the park. Thousands of visitors go to the park every year to have an encounter with a creature that resembles humans the most. 17 gorilla groups have been habituated and open for gorilla trekking gorilla trekking while 3 are open for what is known as the gorilla habituation experience.  By the 2 days gorilla safari Ugandaway, Bwindi is the only national park where tourists can register for the gorilla habituation experience. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali in Rwanda – Kigali City Tour –  Cross to Uganda

At the earliest time possible, the company guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali to start the journey to Bwindi in Uganda. The journey begins with a Kigali city tour. During this city tour, 2 days gorilla trek Ugandayou will visit the genocide memorial center, the central city market, artisan shops and the former presidential palace. After the city tour, you will be taken for lunch in Kigali before starting the 4-hour journey to Bwindi. Expect to enjoy your journey especially if you love nature and beautiful scenery. Rwanda is a country with thousands of hills and several volcanoes. Uganda is full of beautiful green forest and a lot to see during the drive. Expect to reach Bwindi late in the afternoon. Check in to your lodge, refresh and take a nature walk around.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking Uganda – Departure through Kigali

This will be an action packed day. You will rise up before dawn and drive to the park offices for a briefing about gorilla trekking in Bwindi. The briefing is important for many reasons. You get to know about the park, the gorilla groups, what to expect and how to act while in the presence of the gorillas. It is also the 2 days gorilla tour in Ugandatime when you can hire a porter and know which gorilla group you would be tracking. After the briefing, you will be led to the starting point and continue deeper into the forest in search of the gorillas under the leadership of the park Ranger. You will trek through the dense forests, valleys, streams before eventually finding the gorilla group. Once you find the gorillas, you will be allowed to observe them for one hour. Watch as they feed, play around, groom, mate and communicate among themselves. Do not forget to take photos and videos of your time with the primates. Always remember to follow the gorilla trekking rules at all times. After your time with the gorillas, you will be given a certificate of participation before beginning the journey back to Kigali.
