24 Days Uganda Safari
This 24 days (23 nights) safari will begin and finish in Kampala. You will go to many places some of them include; Mabira Forest, Source of the Nile and Bujagali falls, Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest National Park, Semiliki National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Lake Bunyonyi, Lake Mburo, UWEC & Botanical gardens, Ssese Island and others.
You will have 1 night at Rain Forest Lodge, 2 night at Cassia Lodge/Holiday Express Hotel, 2 nights at Jinja Resort, 3 nights at Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya River Lodge /Red Chili Rest Camp, 3 nights at Ndali lodge/ Rwenzori View Guest house/Kanyankyu Ecological site, 2nights at Semiliki Safari Lodge, 1 night at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Kingfisher lodge/ Institute of Ecology , 3 nights at Gorilla Resort/Lake Kitandara Lodge/ Buhoma Community bandas, 1 night at Bunyonyi Safari Resort/ Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp,1 night at Mantana Tented Camp/ Rwonyo Rest Camp, 1 night at Lake Victoria Hotel, Windsor/ Sophie’s motel, 1 night at Mirembe Resort Beach and 1 night at Ngamba Island tented Camp.
24 days tour itinerary.
Day 1: Arrive at the Airport
You will be picked by our company guide/ driver who will transfer you to your Hotel. You will first rest for a few minutes then he will brief you of how your safari is going to be. In the evening, you are free to exercise and prepare for the next day. You will have dinner and over night at Cassia Lodge/Holiday Express Hotel but those who are interested in clubbing or going out will be driven to those respective places.
Day 2: Head to Mabira Forest.
Have an early morning breakfast and carry out a city tour in Kampala; visit the Uganda Museum, the parliament, the Namirembe cathedral, Kasubi tombs, Bahai temple and many others. After lunch, prepare for a transfer to Mabira Forest. You will take a walk and at the same time identify some bird species which may include; Great Blue Turaco and the Black and White casqued hornbill, Greenbul, Tinker birds, African Grey, African Emerald Cuckoo, Black and the Yellow bill cuckoos and many more. In the evening, you will head back to Rain Forest Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Day 4: Source of the Nile and Bujagali falls
After an early break fast, you will drive to Jinja, which is the past most industrialized town in Uganda. Have a stop over at Bombo village to pay a visit to the Sezibwa falls formed by the only Human born river Sezibwa. Later drive to Jinja. The Asian quarters, the brewery industries and the colorful gardens are one of the enroute attractions you can see on the drive. Visit the true Source of the Nile where the Biblical Nile emerges from Lake Victoria. Dinner and Overnight at Jinja Resort.
Day 4: Transfer to Jinja
You will spend the whole day enjoying white water rafting on the World high grade rapids of the Mighty Nile-the World’s second longest river. You will also have a picnic at the Bujagali Falls. Dinner and Overnight at Jinja Resort.
Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls.
You will drive northwards to Murchison Falls National Park after breakfast. The park is located in the north-western part of the country. This charming drive will pass you through the famous battle zone of the Luwero Triangle. You will have a lunch stop over at Masindi town and then proceed to the Murchison Falls, the most beautiful falls on the river Nile. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya River Lodge/ Red Chili Rest Camp.
Day 6: Game drives and a boat cruise
You will wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and then transfer for a morning game drive on the southern banks of the river. The morning drive will take you through different habitats. On the drive, you will clear to see different animals which include giraffes, Hartebeest, Elephants, Bushbucks, Lion, Jackal and many others. After lunch, you will carry out a launch cruise and will view concentration of Hippos on the banks of the river. For the birders, a variety of birds will be present such as the Pel’s Fishing-Owl, king fishers. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya River Lodge /Red Chili Rest Camp.
Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi
Depart from the park and head to Masindi Town for an overnight. Along the way, you will carry out a chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest with in Budongo Forest. From this dense tropical rainforest, you will track chimpanzees-the closest relatives to humans. The forest also provides for the birders, a chance to see a variety of birdlife. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya River Lodge /Red Chili Rest Camp
Day 8: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After your morning breakfast, you will go on a long travel to Fort Portal, taking the Western scenic route to Kibale National Park, this journey will take you through the Albertine rift found in the Western arm of Great East African rift valley. You will reach Fort Portal in the evening and since you will be tired, you will just have a rest escorted with an evening coffee then dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge/ Rwenzori View Guest house/Kanyankyu Ecological site
Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking
I t is always a gorgeous day for chimpanzees tracking so you will wake up early in the morning, have break fast and then head to the park headquarters for the chimpanzee briefing by the forest guide. You are entitled to be quite such that you are able to listen to their pant-hooting calls, and then hustle to the area from which they are calling. Because you went with your packed lunch, you will then have a break of about 30 minutes to take what you have. After lunch, you will head to Bigodi swamp for a walk, where you will see more primates such as the red colobus, black and white colobus and the red-tailed monkey. Over 138 different bird life including the great blue turaco, plant species, and butterflies will be seen in the forest. Dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge/Rwenzori View Guest house /Kanyankyu Ecological site
Day 10: Head to Semiliki National Park
Just like any other day, you will wake up, have your break fast and then head to Semiliki Wildlife Reserve, 52 km from Fort Portal. This is the most unforgettable safari to this national park because you can go for a game drive at night to see several cats, minuscule genet, white tailed mongoose and slim mongoose. What you do is to relax during day, have dinner in the evening, and then proceed to Semiliki for this life changing experience. This night drive will also let you see several night jars which are rare to be seen during day time. It is up to you to say that you are tired so that you can be transferred to Semiliki safari Lodge for your overnight.
Day 11: Boat trips on Lake Albert/birding
You will have break fast and then proceed to Lake Abert for a boat trip not forgetting your packed lunch. While you are on the boat, you will see colonies of Red-throated bee-eaters dart, Spot-breasted Ibis, Chestnut-flanked Goshawk, Red-thighed Sparrow hawk, Long-tailed Hawk, Forest Francolin, Nkulengu Rail, Western Bronze-napped Pigeon, Black-collared Lovebird, and many others. You will then have lunch at the waterfalls which provide a great picnic spot as well as view several fishing villages along the way; you will also visit the tribal community at the foothills of the Rwenzori, where the local people look forward to welcoming and entertaining visitors. Later in the evening, you will head back to the Lodge for your dinner, relaxation and overnight at Semiliki Safari Lodge (FB)
Day 12: Transfer to Kibale Forest
You are expected to have your breakfast the moment you are awake, then take a drive to Sempaya hot springs. For those of you who take long to believe, you will definitely believe the moment you step here. And if you have not yet believed up to today, you can as well come with un boiled eggs; you will see how exciting it is. You will find naked locals with strong beliefs and they will tell you how much they respect the geyser, they will be showering and asking for blessings. However exciting it will be, you will leave it and proceed to Fort Portal to visit the Kings Royal Tombs and various ethnic groups and Villages around. A memorable visit will be to the Burungu community and overnight at Ndali lodge/ Rwenzori View Guest house /Primate Lodge Cottages.
Day 13: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and a boat trip
After breakfast, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have a game drive while entering the park and you will be welcomed by several animals like; warthogs, antelope species, lions, buffaloes, hyenas, and elephants. On your arrival, have lunch and proceed for the launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Different animals that come to drink water at the channel and water birds will be viewed along the shores. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Kingfisher lodge/ Institute of Ecology
Day 14: Game drives
Early in the morning; you will have your breakfast and then go for a game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queens’s mile in the park. You will be able to see very many animals some of which include; lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mongoose, waterbucks, Kobs and many more. Drive back to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, drive to Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth via Maramagambo Forest for dinner and overnight at Ishasha Wilderness Camp, Savannah Hotel/ Kyambura Gorge Fig Tree Camp.
Day 15: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
You are entitled to have your breakfast just as you finish showering in the morning, then you will take a game drive to search for the famous tree climbing lions which are always spotted from a distance clinging on old fig trees. After that, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest which is in the southern part of the country. By the time you reach, you will already be tired so you will just take a shower, relax and then enjoy your dinner and over night at Gorilla Resort/ Lake Kitandara Lodge /Buhoma Community bandas.
Day 16 and 17: Gorilla tracking
You will be briefed by a ranger guide immediately after taking your breakfast and there after, you will enter into the Gorilla Sanctuary for your adventure. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but criss-crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Mammals in the forest include the endangered mountain gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog and many others. The park is known for its fascinating gorillas. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movements of these marvelous primates. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare moving, awesome and exciting adventure. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/Lake Kitandara Lodge/ Buhoma Community bandas
Day 18: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
You will wake up, have your breakfast and then take an attractive drive to Kabale, you will see beautiful rolling hills with terraced landscape. This area is regarded to "Switzerland of Africa”. Just as its name sounds, you will enjoy it with a stopover in Kabale to discover the people’s culture at the Bakiga museum. On your arrival, have lunch and head for a boat trip on Africa’s second deepest lake. While on the boat ride, you will be able to view different bird species like the shoebills, turacos and then you will proceed to your Camp area (Bunyonyi Safari Resort/ Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp) for dinner and over night.
Day 19: Transfer to Lake Mburo
You are entitled to have break fast and then drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will have lunch on your way to Mbarara and later in the evening, you will be able to see animals’ like impalas, zebras, buffalos, topis, elands, oribis and many others. Along with the game drive, many visitors also enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo. You will also see a good number of bird species some of which include; Papyrus gonoleks, Brown-faced lapwings, Carruther’s cisticolas, the extraordinary White winged Warbler and Bare-faced Go-away bird. After that activity, you will have dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp/ Rwonyo Rest Camp
Day 20: Depart to Kampala
With all the excitement of the previous activities, you will have your morning breakfast as usual and then have a game drive while heading to Kampala. You will have lunch on your way and a stop over at the equator for some photographs to show your loved ones whom you left behind. You will arrive late in the evening, have dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge/ Holiday Express Hotel for those of you who will want to rest. Those who are not tired will proceed for a night club at Kampala’s best ones, the likes of Silk, Club T.1 and Ange-mystique. Almost late in the night or until you are tired, you will be transferred back to the Hotel for over night.
Day 21: Visit UWEC & Botanical gardens
Early in the morning, you will have your break fast and then be You will be transferred to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, Entebbe. You will view different primates like the colobus monkey, olive monkey, Patas monkey, Vervet monkey, Grey checked monkey, Red-tailed monkey, baboon, Chimpanzee and others. You will also see different hoof stocks, reptiles, carnivores and a lot of birdlife. After Lunch, you will visit the botanical gardens, where by different plant species will be seen. Overnight at Lake Victoria Hotel, Windsor/ Sophie’s motel
Day 22: Transfer to Ssese Island
You are entitled to have your breakfast and then continue to board a ferry to Ssese Island on Lake Victoria. It will take you 1 hour by speed boat from the mainland. Those that re interested in fishing can carry it out. There are beautiful sandy beaches, safe and scheduled swimming areas and forest walks for viewing wildlife and exotic birds. Overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach.
Day 23: Head to Ngamba Island and carry out the chimpanzee activities.
After breakfast, head back to the mainland and later transfer to Ngamba Islands at 09:00hours. The 45-minute boat trip using a speed boat will give you a good experience on water while heading to the Chimpanzee home in the Camp. Have the first chimpanzee feeding at 1100 hours and one may have an optional of birding after lunch or the second chimpanzee feeding at 1400 hours. Have dinner and overnight at Ngamba Island tented Camp.
Day 24: Departure
You will have an early breakfast and head for a forest walk at 0600 hours and then at 0800 return to the mainland. There after, you will be transfer back to the Airport to find your departure flight back home. End of Safari in Uganda
