Rwanda Gorilla Trip - 10 Days Rwanda Safari, Mountain Hiking, Gorilla Trekking Tour

Day 01: Primates Trip to Nyungwe
Upon your arrival at Kigali airport our tour guide will welcome you and transfer you to Kigali Serena Lodge for full board overnight.

 Day 02: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest
In the morning undertake a primate trekking safari in Nyungwe Forest. You will be able to see large troops of Angola Colobus monkeys and chimps. Then transfer to Akagera national park for a wildlife safari. Meals and Overnight at Akagera Kempiski Lodge

Day 03: Akagera Wildlife Safari
After breakfast undertake a game drive in the Akagera national park in search of wildlife such as Cape buffalo, Zebra, Giraffe and Elephant. In between the drives, you may want to relax by poolside. Meals and Overnight at Akagera Kempiski Lodge

Day 03: Akagera to Volcanoes National Park
After a morning game drive transfer to the Virunga Ranges in preparation for the next days gorilla trekking tour. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi Guest House

Day 04: Gorilla trekking
After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before commencing the gorilla trek at the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes. Encountering the mountain gorillas may take between 2 to 8 hours. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi Guest House

Day 05: Mountain climbing trip
In the morning start with climbing Mount Karisimbi - the highest of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Ranges. It is a gigantic dome, now dormant, that dominates the range, more in girth than in height. Karisimbi in Kinyarwanda means white shell, which implies its often white-capped summit. Amusingly, this cap results not from snow but from hail and sleet which accumulate in the higher elevations from its frequent storms. You may camp up in the mountain before returning to the base the following day.

 Day 06: Mountain climbing of Karisimbi Peak (4507m)
At dawn climb up to the peak of Karisimbi and then descend to the base. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi Guest House

Day 07: Visiting the Dian Fossey Research centre and Gorilla Grave Yard
After breakfast transfer to Karusoke this is the place where Dian Fossey spent over two decades researching on mountain gorillas and how to habituate them. In the afternoon return to the lodge.  Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi Guest House

Day 08: Touring Lake Kivu

After breakfast transfer to Lake Kivu. Relax at the beach. Overnight at the Kivu Serena Lodge

Day 09: Touring the genocide memorial sites
After enjoying a boat cruise at Lake Kivu return to Kigali for a city tour in the afternoon. You will have an opportunity to visit the genocide memorial sites.

Day 10: Departure
This day is reserved for your flight back home.
