Mount Rwenzori Hiking Safari- 9 Days Trekking Rwenzori Mountain Climbing Trip, Rwenzori mountaineering


This 9 days (8nights) will begin and finish at Kampala; you will see fascinating things on this trip some of which include; Margherita, Kasese and others.
You will spend 8 nights at Hotel Margherita.


Day 1: Kampala to Kasese

Arrival at Entebbe airport and thereafter transfer to Kasese via Mbarara. On your way; you stop over at royal drum makers and at the Equator for an informative presentation by the guide. Make a stopover in Mbarara for lunch, and then proceed to Kasese to have you dinner and overnight stay at Margherita Hotel, Kasese.

Day 2: Climb Nyabitaba through Bakonjo Farmsteads


You will wake up and have breakfast, then after drive to the park headquarters in Ibanda and to the Rwenzori Mountaineering Services (RMS) at Nyakalengija and get the necessary equipment for hiking. You may be given a choice to select your guides and porters. Start hiking from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut. This may take 5-7 hours. Have dinner and overnight stay at Nyabitaba hut.

Day 3: Transfer to John Matte

You are expected to wake up in the morning, have break fast and later proceed to take the trail from Nyabitaba which will drop you along the forest to the Kurt Shafer Bridge, just underneath the Bujuku and Mubuku Rivers. A steep gradient through bamboo forest, pass through a long stretch of slipper moss-covered rock. You will have lunch and then continue to your trek stepping at the base of the mass tussock grass to avoid getting stuck in the rather wet ground. After about 7 hours walking, you will have reached the John matte Camp where you will spend the night.

Day 4 Bujuku Hut

You are expected to wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast and then begin the trek that will take you up and down a cliff crossing the river severally along the Bujuku valley. The ground is permanently wet and muddy. After 5 hours, you will reach the Bujuku lake where the scenic forest becomes bigger and bigger. After a short break, another hour's walk takes you to the Bujuku Hut (3,977-m) where you will have your dinner and overnight from.

Day 5: Head to Kitandara Hut

Early in the morning probably after breakfast, you will go for a trek which is much similar to the previous day as you walk up and down cliffs using roots tussock grass for support. The last bit of your trek is by ascending the Scott - Elliot saddle (4372m) and descending again to the Kitandara Lake before proceeding to Kitandara hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Guy Yeoman Hut

After your morning break fast, you will go for a trek which will take you via the Fresh field saddle (4280m) passing Bujongolo cave to Mubuku Gorge. You will have a short break for lunch and then continue. Perhaps it will take you about 8 hours such that you spare some time in the evening for showering, dinner and over night at the Guy Yeoman Hut (3450m).

Day 7: Transfer to Nyabitaba Hut

This will not be so tiresome because after you morning break fast, you will descent into the Mubuku valley there and then passing very steep water falls through a bamboo forest. As you are transferred, you will be able to spot several steep areas that will leave you amazing and surprised, indeed it will be memorable and unforgettable. When you reach Nyabitaba Hut, you will have your dinner and over night there.

Day 8: Hotel Margarita.

Not so early in the morning like at around 9:00am you will wake up, have your breakfast and then proceed to Ibanda where vehicles will be awaiting to take you back to Hotel Margarita. When you reach there, you can decide to either pack you belongings and get ready for tomorrow’s departure or some can even go for a walk around the hotel as you wait for your dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Kampala.

You will wake early in the morning and have breakfast at leisure, then continue to Kampala, you will be shopping on your way back and when you reach Kampala, time permitting, you will also have a stop over in Kampala for another shopping then drive back to Entebbe having lunch en route. We will wish you a safe journey back home and encourage you to come back again.
