3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Safari Uganda Mountain Gorilla Tour

Mgahinga Gorilla Park (420 sq km) is probably the most scenic in Africa situated in the extreme corner of the country, forming part of a large conservation area that straddles the borders of Rwanda and Congo to include Parc des Volcans of Rwanda and Parc des Virungas in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Three extinct volcanoes, part of the panoramic Virunga range, lie within the boundaries of the Ugandan portion of this biologically rich portion. Mgahinga is famous for its endangered mountain gorillas, a habituated group that keeps ducking across the international borders.  This gorilla group is made up of 11 individuals under the command of 2 silverbacks.

TOUR ITINERARYMgahinga Gorilla Tour

Day 1: Kampala - Kisoro

After breakfast our tour guide will transfer you by road via the Kigezi highlands commonly referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ to Kisoro. You will have lunch en route in Mbarara and arrive in the evening in Kisoro. Dinner and overnight at Mt Gahinga Rest Camp /Mgahinga Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 2: Gorilla tracking

After breakfast transfer to the park headquarters at Ntebeko for briefing and start tracking the gorillas at 8.00am. Encountering the mountain gorillas may take between 2 hours to a full day depending on the movement of these awesome apes. Dinner and overnight at Mt Gahinga Rest Camp /Mgahinga Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 3: Return to Kampala

Early in the morning, after breakfast and drive back to Kampala with lunch in Mbarara and arrive in Kampala in the evening.
